What does it cost to ride the Glacier Express in Switzerland? ›

The journey itself is covered by the GA or Swiss Travel Pass. Without a pass, the standard price for the complete journey (Zermatt-St. Moritz or the other way) is 152 CHF in 2nd class or 268 CHF in 1st class. With a half-fare card, you get 50% off this price.

The seat reservation is obligatory and will be levied on anyone travelling by the Glacier Express. The fee must be paid in full by all passengers, including children and ohters holding discount travel passes. This does not apply to children under six who do not require a seat.

A: If you're traveling from Zermatt to St. Moritz, the right side of the train provides the most stunning views. Of course, if you're going in the opposite direction, the views flip. We estimate about 85% of the most picturesque sights are on the right side.

The Bernina Express route is known to be one of the most scenic, with only the Glacier Express as its rival. The Bernina Express operates year-round so you can enjoy the snow-covered Alps and landscapes in the winter, as well as the lush greenery in spring and summer.

There is a wheelchair compartment and a toilet suitable for use by disabled persons in the 1st class section of every Glacier Express train.

The Glacier Express Train journey offers a range of meal options, depending on the class of travel. Standard class passengers can purchase snacks and drinks from the bistro car, while First and Excellence class passengers are treated to complimentary gourmet meals and beverages.
