Monster Hunter: Rise’s Sunbreak expansion includes a trove of new content, such as new monsters giving players new enemies to face. Likewise, this does require you to have assembled the best build for your chosen weapon to tackle these dangerous creatures, primarily through the endgame content.
While slow yet hard-hitting in attack damage, the Great Sword can be crafted relatively early in the game’s expansion, and in the best hunter’s hands, it’s proven to be a deadly weapon to face. We’ve detailed the best endgame Great Sword build for the Monster Hunter: Rise Sunbreak expansion, including the armor pieces, skills, and decorations.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak – Best Endgame Great Sword Build
Having the best build ensures players can progress throughout the endgame content and defeat challenging monsters. Attempting to get a Master Rank can be exceptionally hard when you don’t have a strong build, thus, making the grind more complicated.

Great Sword players shouldn’t fret as countless builds provide maximum protection against challenging monsters and deal high amounts of damage. Additionally, it leaves room for adjustments for those that wish to swap out weapons and gears to accommodate the enemies you’ll face.
We have detailed the best well-rounded Great Sword build that will have you reaching Master Rank 6 and higher in no time.
MHR: Sunbreak Great Sword Build– Weapons
- Weapons:
- Anjanath
- Jyuratodus
- Goss Harag
The best Great Sword build starts with a weapon, and players can opt between three varying swords, namely the Anjanath, Jyuratodus, and Goss Harag. The Kamura Warrior Great Sword is a worthy alternative; however, it doesn’t have the stats that the swords mentioned earlier possess.
All three Great Swords have an Attack Power of 350, the highest attack stats in-game, and a Purple Sharpness level. Additionally, all three swords possess two Rampage Slots, vital for equipping skills best utilized against anti-species monsters.
The differences come in Elements and Affinities as the Anjanath has the Fire Element with a -20% Affinity; the Jyuratodus is a Water Element weapon with a -10% Affinity and the Goss Harag with its Ice Element and -15% Affinity. Despite their differences, this will come in handy, especially when facing monsters with these elemental weaknesses; the Anjanath and Jyuratodus Great Swords have a Level 3 slot, while the Goss Harag has a Level 2 slot.

The armor pieces are the same for all three builds; however, you will notice that these pieces come from various armor sets, not just one set entirely. This is due to the varying stats and bonuses each piece offers but also allowing you to swap out pieces that may work better for your specific build.

The decorations are also fairly similar across the board; however, for the Anjanath and Jyuratodus sword build, one Handicraft Jewel 1 is required where the Goss Harag replaces the Handicraft Jewel for an Attack Jewel 2.

For the Anjanath and Jyuratodus Great Sword build, both have the Handicraft skill at Level 3 and Attack Boost at Level 4. The Goss Harag build has one point more in Attack Boost at a Level 5 while the Handicraft is at Level 2.
